The New Totalitarianism: The Imaginings of Lennon

...Lennonism is dangerous to a society that is fighting for its life because it blinds itself from identifying the enemy and sees no purpose for a pre-emptive strike. The role of the victim is considered more moral, because victims never harm anyone else in any circumstances, or at least that's what they want us to believe.

A day after the shock, a piano was placed in front of the Bataclan Theater and someone played John Lennon's "Imagine." In contrast to the outpouring of sentimentality, I don't find any hope here. Lennon imagined that there would be no countries and no religions, and mainly nothing to kill or die for. Lennonism characterizes the diplomatic line Europe (and the U.S. under Barack Obama) is taking. The liberal West is busy imagining, just like the Left in Israel imagines "peace."

Europe was beaten before the war even began. How will the French bombardment of Syria help it deal with tens of millions of Muslims on the continent? Take the Left here, increase its detachment from reality seventy fold, and you'll get its European counterpart. A Haaretz editorial that came out after the incidents in Paris teaches us that "adhering closely to the values of culture, ensuring civil rights, and aid to the refugees can at least thwart the terrorist organizations' goal of enlisting supporters from among those minorities." Hard to believe, but this, in a nutshell, is the war cry of a defeated society: to "at least" thwart the goal of drawing in supporters. The potential terrorists of ISIS or any other jihadist organization are so moved to tears by the European cultural values, civil rights, and hospitality that they'll agree to turn their swords into plowshares and integrate into Europe as productive citizens. Lennonism.

The intellectual parody goes on: Israel and the Palestinians. The Haaretz editorial goes on to respond to the thoughts that was on many people's minds, whether Europe would wake up and understand that they are one and the same and Islamist terrorism there is the same as it is here. No such thing! The high priests of Lennonism argue that "such a twisted thought cannot be." Cannot be. That's the extent of the twisted thinking the human mind can come up with, according to Haaretz, thinking that we're talking about the same terrorism. Why?

Well, because "the terrorist attacks carried out by Palestinians are not designed to punish or attack a culture," but rather "stem from frustration, from the lack of economic or diplomatic prospects" and from "occupation." Ah. So in the 1990s -- at the height of the peace talks under the government of Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and Foreign Minister Shimon Peres -- buses were being blown up in our streets because of "frustration and a lack of diplomatic prospects?" And what about prior to 1967? What was the reason for the slaughter of Jews in the land of Israel in 1929? Lennonism is dangerous to a society that is fighting for its life because it blinds itself from identifying the enemy and sees no purpose for a pre-emptive strike. The role of the victim is considered more moral, because victims never harm anyone else in any circumstances, or at least that's what they want us to believe.

Things are even worse because the cursed distinction between one bloodshed and another and one terrorism and another is the root of the moral corruption that is destroying the free world, 70 years after it set out to fight for its freedom. Anyone who does not differentiate between the sacred and the profane but differentiates between the "understandable" murder of Jews and the "non-understandable" murder of French citizens, indirectly supports the "unjustifiable" murder. The day isn't far off when the agents of the disintegrating consciousness in Israel and Europe (and The New York Times) will tell us that we should be understanding of the murderers in Paris because Europe is paying the price for the crimes of colonization, isn't doing enough to take in the refugees, and there is poverty and neglect, and mainly "no future."

Wait, isn't that what Swedish Foreign Minister Margot Wallstrom said on Friday night in response to the terrorist attacks that were still taking place in Paris (before we learned about the slaughter at the Bataclan!)? -- "To counteract the radicalization, we must go back to the situation such as the one in the Middle East of which not the least the Palestinians see that there is no future"; "the distressing reality" causes them to "resort to violence." Statements of a fundamentalist liberal who won't let a single fact challenge her beliefs.

4.

Forty years before this farce, the journalist and author Ronald Huntford described the Swedes as "the new totalitarians." The Swedish totalitarianism, which is spreading to other nations on the continent, is characterized by cultural mind control that forbids thinking differently than political correctness dictates. There are other minorities who live in difficult conditions; they aren't setting Europe on fire. The Jewish French philosopher Alain Finkielkraut dared to voice an opinion like that in 2006, and immediately became a target for cultural elimination by the French Left. Jihadist Islam understood and exploited it. We should look at Europe and learn how to deal with our own Lennonist agents of consciousness. Fight a war as a war.
